CRACKBACK

this book could probly relate to alot of kids that are in high school and that play sports even if its not football. in this book Miles(main character) father is a little crazy when it comes to his kids and sports. he is constantly getting at Miles for all the little things he does during a game, and never pointing out the positives. Miles also faces very difficult problems besides just his dad getting on to him for every little thing he does. His friends are starting to experiment with steroids and he is offered some. Also his coach gets cancer and is forced to quit coaching so the back up coach is now the head coach. The problem is the new coach has no idea what he is doing, he gets nervous, and loses it alot of the time, and takes it out on his players. Miles for example makes one bad play and he is no longer a starter because of it. and his backup is clearly not as good as he is. so you should read this book to find out how Miles reacts to all of these problems. Does he take the steroids? Does him and his father work things out? Does he continue to play football for the new coach?

Review on quarter 1

I think i have grown as a reader by doing all the jornals and drawing pictures that was in my mind even if they was just stick people, just showin little details in the book helps remember certain things that happen in the book.

I have grown as a writer by all of the vocabulary i have learned this quarter. there have been cases where i have actually heard the word on t.v. or someone else say it and if it wasnt for the vocabulary then i wouldnt have any idea what it meant and that just furtheres my knowledge in writing, because i have a bigger vocabulary.

Also this quarter my technology with computers has also went up. With this whole blogging and posting and what not.

Furthermore, i think this quarter has helped me with group work, and having an intelliginte discussion with someone else.

As for next quarter i hope to further my knowledge with writing, and vocabulary, and possibly work on punctuation errors.

NAMES WILL NEVER HURT ME

Some kids in the schools of America have it harder than ever. Constantly being bullied around. Some kids might be able to handle being made fun of every day, being beat up everyday or simply just non existent. But the kids who sit back and take it are far different from the ones who don’t. The ones who hold all their anger in them until they cant hold anymore. A good example would be the columbine shootings or the Jonesboro shootings. Kids who come to school to get evil revenge, not caring whose life they take. This is a good reason why schools stress so much about not bullying. Another point the kids who do the bullying probably couldn’t last a day in the shoes of someone who gets picked on everyday.
Some more interesting stuff in this book was not being the same person on the outside than the inside. The star of the football team, the jock, the popular guy that everyone likes comes off like he has it all. But the truth is ever since his mom passed away when he was young it was just him an over controlling dad. But in the book he ends up messing up his whole life. A big reason why kids rebel today though is because of their over controlling parents. It’s all good to love and care for your kids but there is a certain point where you got to let them have some freedom. If you don’t than there is a good chance of rebellion that might just happened.
